TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Tuesday evening the Vigo County Council approved a 10-year tax abatement for the trailer manufacturer Great Dane.
The company plans to use the money on equipment and building improvements. It also plans to expand the current facility.
Those involved with the project said it will be completed in two phases with a completion date of December 2024.
Phase one will place emphasis on hiring new employees while phase two will involve the building renovations.
Matthew Johnson, the plant manager for Great Dane’s Terre Haute plant, said he’s excited to invest and see the improvements in the facilities.
“We’re not going anywhere anytime soon. It’s obviously a testament to this community that has supported Great Dane for all these years, both here and the Brazil facility, so, it kind of says Great Dane is willing to invest here and support the community,” Johnson said.
Production on the facility could start as early as June this year.
