TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates organizations wants to ensure the children it serves have warm blankets for the winter.
The local CASA partnered with Texas Roadhouse Thursday to make and collect blankets. The blankets will be given to the children during CASA’s upcoming “Christmas in Whoville” event.
There are more than 1,300 children involved in the program. The blanket drive is an effort that is important to Texas Roadhouse, which has an initiative called “Blankets of Love”.
“You never know when a child needs something very simply like a pillow, a blanket, sheets,” Whitney Sparacino, local store marketer for Texas Roadhouse, said. “And everybody overlooks, we feel a lot of times, just the simple necessities that make the difference in their lives and something that they use everyday.”
Vigo county CASA is looking for volunteers to help them wrap presents for the “Christmas in Whoville” event. Gift wrapping will take place at 9 a.m. next Friday, Dec. 17 at the Girl Scout Building.
