VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With colder temperatures beginning to roll in, the Vigo County Highway Department is monitoring the roadways.

According to Supervisor Rusty Maurer department employees have begun treating the main roads, with plans to begin plowing as soon as the snow begins to fall.

“Stay clear, keep out of the way for us,” said Maurer. “That makes our job a little easier to get through. Just drive slow, be patient with us as we try to get to every road as soon as we can.”

Drivers are encouraged to stay home if possible, but if on the road, steer clear of salt trucks and don’t crowd the plow.
