VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County Election Board met on Friday to certify the results of the primary election.

The Vigo County Election board was represented by Vigo County clerk, Brad Newman, Republican representative, Jerry Arnold, and serving as a proxy for Democratic board member John Kessler, was Gretchen Anne Etling.

The board discussed a few ballots that were abandoned by the voter or categorized as incomplete and therefore were voided, causing the final numbers of the votes to change, but not the results. A total of 5,788 total ballots were cast and accepted for the 2023 local primary election.

After all the contested ballots had been balanced, the final votes for the Vigo County primary election were certified.
