VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County Health Department partnered with MDwise to host a Back on Track Health Fair to support the community in their back-to-school healthcare.
According to data from the Indiana Health Department, 26.3% of K-12 students are still in need of their required shots within the state of Indiana. There are also changes that could be made to many Hoosier’s Medicaid benefits as the height of the COVID-19 pandemic winds down.
The Back on Track Health Fair event offered all routine children’s vaccinations including measles, mumps, rubella, Polio, and HPV as well as the COVID-19 vaccine for free. Attendees also were able to enjoy free food and school supplies.
During the COVID-19 public health emergency, no one lost their access to Medicaid coverage, now, many residents in the state could lose their coverage. Taking action could help to prevent people from losing their healthcare coverage.
