TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Tuesday evening, the Vigo County Council approved both 10 year tax abatement resolutions for Saturn Petcare in a special meeting.

The council vote was six to one on both resolutions. The 10 year personal property tax abatement, and the 10 year real property tax abatement. It comes after a public hearing on the resolutions.

Richard Shagley with Wright, Shagley and Lowery law firm spoke on behalf of Saturn Petcare.
He said these were two ten year abatements that will create 50 additional jobs with a payroll, benefit package and dedication to local labor.

Shagley says it would be a 50 million dollar project, including $8 million dollars for real property and $42 million dollars for personal property. Shagley also says the two resolutions have been amended through the course of the last month, and there’s been a lot of dialogue between himself and the council.

Back in November, the council said Saturn Petcare qualifies as an economic revitalization area. That is a necessary step, in the process for getting the abatement.
