VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Hundreds of new jobs could be coming to Vigo County.

Steve Witt, President of the Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation said a United States-based company that makes components for batteries is interested in the 340 acres of the former Pfizer property that’s located at Vigo County Industrial Park Two.

Witt described the company as a ‘material sciences’ company and said it’s considering an over one billion dollar investment that would create about 640 jobs in the Vigo County area.

More information about the project will come during a meeting of the Vigo County Redevelopment Commission next month.

“On March 21, the commission will gather and open the company’s bid, we call it, even though we know what they’re going to offer for the acreage and then additional details about the project, including the company’s identity, will be revealed at that time,” Witt said.

Witt also said that by statute, the property must be advertised for sale. The advertisement ran for the first time Monday and will run again next week.
