TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — During a meeting with Vigo County Clerk, Brad Newman, the number of voters who turned out to cast their vote was discussed.
On Monday, April 24, local officials held a press conference at the Vigo County Court House to discuss the details of local voter turnout in Vigo County.
“This community has never let me down when we’ve had an election. Ever. Right now I’m seeing numbers that are very concerning, I would like to see a huge turnout,” said Newman.
According to documents provided by the County Clerk’s Office, with a total number of registered voters amounting to 39,152, only 2.2% of registered voters voted in this most recent local election.
Newman encourages Vigo County registered voters to get out and vote in all elections.
“I will accommodate voters in any way I can” added Newman.
