Driver involved in fatal accident along US Hwy 41 identified

VIGO CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One driver was killed and another hospitalized Tuesday afternoon when a pickup truck collided head-on with a tractor-trailer on US Hwy 41 north of Head Ave., according to John Plasse, Vigo County Sheriff.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office as Bradley Sumansky, 50, of Terre Haute.

The initial investigation revealed that at approximately 2:30 p.m., the northbound pickup truck crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into the southbound tractor-trailer. It is unknown at this time what caused the pickup to cross the centerline.

The investigation is ongoing.
