VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Update: According to Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse, the pedestrian involved in the Monday morning crash on S. U.S. 41 and Crossing Boulevard has died.
The release also states that it does not appear drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
Update: All lanes near South U.S. Highway 41 and East Crossing Boulevard are back open as of 9:10 a.m. after being closed due to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash closed the roads.
Original: One person is in critical condition after a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash near South U.S. Highway 41 and East Crossing Boulevard.
According to Kevin Murphy, Battalion Chief with the Honey Creek Fire Department, the pedestrian was hit by the vehicle and was transported to Regional Hospital.
Murphy confirmed the person hit was a female but did not release her identity.
Vigo County Dispatch is asking that you avoid the area as the southbound lanes of U.S. 41 are closed and the northbound is down to one lane.
