TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vigo County School Board approved a motion to solicit bids for updated security cameras in its high schools at its meeting on Monday.

Coordinator of Safety and Security Kurt Brinegar said the corporation has three different camera systems, and the goal is to combine them into one system.

Brinegar added that the current cameras are outdated. New technology would allow them to access those camera feeds quicker and on different devices.

“So when technology advances, our security needs to advance along with it,” Brinegar stated. “That’s why we need to look at the new camera systems to be digitalized.”

VCSC is only in the bidding process of adding new cameras, so there’s no timetable for when new cameras would be added.

Brinegar also stated that Washington Alternative could also receive new cameras.
