VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Many students in Vigo County can utilize some of their downtime during the summer months to get a jump start on their next school year thanks to grant funding.

The Vigo County School Corporation is inviting incoming kindergarten through 2nd-grade students to join the 2023 Jump Start Summer School.

The program is funded through the Summer School Grant, and will reportedly provide time for students to get back into the swing of the school routine while providing academic instruction to help prepare them for the next level.

The program will take place at each VCSC elementary school from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. beginning Monday, July 31, and running through Friday, August 4.

Students will be able to eat both breakfast and lunch while attending schools that have 60 or more participants. Transportation will be provided for students in regular busing areas.

The deadline to register is Friday, May 19. To register a student call the elementary school they will be attending, or click here.
