VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An agreement has been reached with the still unnamed new Vigo County School Corporation Superintendent.

That’s according to VCSC officials who spoke to the media during a news conference Tuesday morning.

The board of trustees reached an agreement with the candidate Monday night. According to officials the contract for the position will be posted online temporarily to allow the public a chance to learn the details regarding the new superintendent’s pay and time commitment.

The board of trustees assured the public that the contract offered was in response to what they called a highly competitive market.

“He has character, heart, accountability, proven leadership, proven experience,” School Board Member Rick Burger said. “We found that person.”

The base salary offered is $195,000 with multiple stipends possible.

Those stipends include;

  • $2,000 Pending a successful evaluation
  • $10,000 Incentive option pending satisfactory completion of board approved goals

With retirement contributions, stipends, and insurance the total cost to employ the new superintendent would be $253,393 which is reportedly $10,000 higher than the previous superintendent’s basic compensation package.

The initial contract will run for a length of three years with the option to rollover after that time period assuming good performance.

School Board President Amy Lore said the offer is a fairly common superintendent contract.
