TERRE HAUTE Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vigo County Public Library celebrated Valentine’s Day this year with a little twist.
Tech Team Manager Bonnie McNair said they wanted to create something this year that would interest people of all ages. So, she said pancakes were an ideal way to educate on the versatility of 3-D printers.
McNair said the great thing about using pancake batter for making valentines is even if you make a mistake, you can eat it and try again.
“The pancakes that they design, we save it to an SD card, plug it into the pancake bot, we find their file, they press play and then we get to watch while they print four layers of pancake batter,” she said.
One mother and son celebrated the holiday with their own creations.
Melinda Bonnett said her son Logan wanted to do something together for Valentine’s Day, and this was a fun and educational option she thought they’d both enjoy.
“We ended up with pancake bones the first time around, and he thought those were better than pancakes,” Bonnett said. “It did finally print and they were really good it was a really cool experience.”
Bonnette said her design featured a heart with both her name and Logan’s in the middle.
