BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Brazil elementary school announced a furry surprise at the Clay Community school board meeting.
Van Buren Elementary will be welcoming a therapy dog within the next year.
Journey, the Golden Doodle has started her training and already knows a few simple commands.
Brooke Kraemer, a Special Education teacher at Van Buren, says it’s a unique way for the school to offer something beneficial to their students.
“It could help the kids be calm and it could give the students a chance to talk to a friend or feel accepted by a dog and get all their emotions and feelings out,” Kraemer said.
And students who may have allergies won’t have to worry, Journey is hypoallergenic.
