Update: The westbound lane is back open.
VIGO COUNTY, Ind, (WTWO/WAWV) U.S. Highway 40 is closed westbound near National Ave. due to a large brush fire.
According to Sugar Creek Fire Chief Darrick Scott, the fire began around 10:50 p.m. and is ongoing.
Chief Scott is asking people to avoid the area.
There are no injuries to report at this time we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
