VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Sheriff John Plasse announced that 49-year-old Johnny Vaughn and 20-year-old Raya Vaughn were the two people killed Sunday in a two-vehicle wreck in Vigo County.
According to the initial VCSO release, the crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. Sunday on State Road 63 at the Durkees Ferry Road intersection.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a passenger car was eastbound on Durkees Ferry Road approaching the State Road 63 intersection when the car attempted to continue eastbound, crossing the southbound lane of traffic.
At that same time, a Penske moving truck carrying an SUV on a trailer was traveling southbound on SR 63. The moving truck attempted to avoid the collision but crashed into the passenger car.
After the initial impact, both vehicles continued across the SR 63 northbound lanes. The vehicles came to rest in ditch south of the intersection with the moving truck landing on top of the passenger vehicle.
