TERR HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Two businesses expected to bring jobs and investment to Vigo County are making some steps forward.

AIS Gauging, a local web measurement tech company will soon undergo expansion.

The company currently located on North 13th Street will move to the Vigo County Industrial Park in what is known as the 606 Building.

Wednesday, the Vigo County Redevelopment Commission opened bids for construction of an access road near the property.

“Water and road improvements are something particularly for the AIS Gauging that we’ve been working on the past several months,” said Steve Witt, Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation president.

When completed employees of AIS Gauging will be able to access the 606 Building directly from Carlisle Road.

Witt says upgrades like this to the industrial park are important for continued development in the area.

“This is something we’re used to doing, it’s just part of the work and we’re happy to do it if it means new jobs and investment in the community,” Witt said.

Witt also says some progress is being made at Saturn Petcare, a German pet food company, which will make the old Pfizer building it’s first U.S. facility.

The company is expected to create around 200 jobs and millions of dollars in investment.

“Saturn’s been working over the past year on improvements to the building, installing equipment, extensive improvements going on at the facility,” Witt said.

He says the improvements Saturn has made over the past year should allow the company to begin operating in the near future.

“We think some time early next year they’ll be in production so they’re hiring folks and we’re excited about that,” Witt said.

Witt says he is hopeful that the redevelopment commission will take action on bids submitted for the access road at a meeting next Tuesday.
