TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An annual 5-k run that used to happen at midnight, is going to be taking place a little earlier this year. The former Midnight River Run is now called the Twilight River Run.

It will happen on July 29 at Fairbanks Park. Participants can choose between a one-mile run or walk at 9:45 p.m. and a 5k run or walk at 10 p.m.

The 5k will also include a high school team event where area high schools can compete as a group to win money for their school’s running program. The school team with the lowest cumulative time will win $250 and the second place team will win $100.

Director Pamela Malone said this event is for everyone.

“This amazing event brings together people from all backgrounds and ages. And they’re here to celebrate fitness as well as help raise money for college scholarships for area youth,” Malone said.

Proceeds will also fund the Wabash Valley Road Runner’s scholarship program. Each year the club awards two scholarships to outstanding student athletes from the Wabash Valley.
