Local tree farm looks to spread Christmas cheer

PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – It’s time again for holiday decorating, and for some families, that means going and picking out a Christmas tree.

At the Schmitt Family Tree Farm in Paris, Il., there are two different types of trees available for people to pick out; Fraser Firs and Scotch Pines.

The Schmitt family took over the local farm in 2018 and says its a special opportunity for them to spread Christmas cheer.

“We’re both emotional. It gives us a time to spend with family. Just to be together, and make memories together, and allow that for other families to make memories, too,” Joe and Stephanie Schmitt said.

All the trees on the farm come from a tree farm in northern Wisconsin. Joe Schmitt says the Fraser Firs hold needles better and are less messy, while the Scotch Pines have more of a traditional Christmas look.
