TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute Independence Day tradition will not take place this year.

The Wabash Valley Horsemen’s Association organizes the Frontier Day Parade. The group posted on its Facebook page that it does not have enough help to organize and hold this year’s event.

The parade has been going on for 75 years.

The Wabash Valley Horseman’s Association says the only year they did not hold the parade was in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

An official with the WVHA said that with dwindling horse numbers and few volunteers this year’s event had to be called off. The official added that they would be speaking with some of the folks who have stepped up to offer help for next year’s event in hopes of the parade returning in 2023.
