VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An effort to build tiny homes for veterans experiencing homelessness or who are without shelter will get a financial boost.

The Terre Haute Area Association of Realtors plans to build six tiny homes which will serve as temporary housing for veterans. The property at 23rd Street and Maple Ave. was donated for the effort.

Funds for the project have been raised by numerous private donations and through fundraisers. Association of Realtors Board President Kyle Shoults said Vigo County Commissioners are contributing $10,000 dollars to the project.

Shoults noted that the contribution will be a big help in launching the project, hoping to make a difference for veterans.

“A lot of veterans [are] homeless through here so hopefully this will provide them something to get them back on their feet and in a positive direction, give them a place to stay, and like I said, just give them some guidance counseling along the way,” explained Shoults.

People interested in supporting the project are welcome to contact the Terre Haute Area Association of Realtors.
