Local News

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.,(WTWO/WAWV)– The Terre Haute Police Department are looking for the man in the photos posted on their Facebook page. According to police, he has been identified but he is not yet in police custody.

Law enforcement officials said package theft is something the community should remain vigilant about year round.

Ryan Adamson, Public Information Officer for Terre Haute Police Department said, there are preventative measures that people can take to deter porch pirates.

THPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the man seen in the above photo, who has allegedly stolen packages off of porches throughout Terre Haute.

“If you have an employer that’s willing to work with you, you can have your packages delivered to your job. Notify a neighbor about when it’s going to be there so that they can take it off your porch. Or set it to where it’s going to be delivered when you’re home and also stop by the parcel delivery business to pick your packages up. We understand it may be an inconvenience to people, but it just might save your package from being stolen,” said Adamson.

Officials also said that home security systems can be useful in these situations.

If a person is caught stealing packages that is worth more than $750, they will be charged with a Level 6 felony.

Anyone with information about the man in photos above is asked to call Detective Brent Stoelting at 812-244-2675.
