TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute Police Department Officers were dispatched in the early hours on Friday to the train tracks at 10th Street and Locust Street in regards to a car stuck on the tracks.

According to a post made by the Terre Haute Police Department, around 2:45 a.m. officers responded to a report of a vehicle stuck on the train tracks. As law enforcement further investigated the scene, the driver of the vehicle, Enock Momanyi, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

At 2:56 a.m. CSX was contacted and advised to stop any train traffic due to a vehicle stuck on the tracks. During the course of the investigation, around 3:03 a.m. a CSX train struck Momanyi’s vehicle as it came through the intersection. 

According to Sgt. Ryan Adamson, the last of the THPD crews left the scene at 3:49 a.m.

THPD reported no injuries as a result of the incident.
