TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Those in the downtown area of Terre Haute on Wednesday may have noticed a portion of Wabash Avenue was shut down for the Terre Haute South Marching Band.

The road was closed from 7th Street to 9th Street for a part of the day so the band could film a video.

Austen Leake, Director of Communication for the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce said the closure was due to the chamber’s efforts to film the video featuring the Terre Haute South’s marching band.

The video will be used as a part of a promotion for the city designed to encourage families who are thinking of moving to Terre Haute.

“Seeing more people move back to Terre Haute would only benefit our schools and our music programs. We would love a band that’s twice the size of ours currently and be more comparable to the offerings in Indianapolis,” said Tim Murphy Band Director of Terre Haute South.

Over 80 local students took part in the filming.
