TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man has been arrested following a pursuit with law enforcement Tuesday morning.
According to Vigo County Chief Deputy Stephen Meng, the situation began when officers located a vehicle that had been reported stolen in the 3000 block of Goldenrod Avenue. Meng said that a man was inside the vehicle at the time and refused to exit, instead choosing to drive away.
Deputies pursued the vehicle for several miles until the driver eventually stopped on Grande Avenue where he was placed under arrest without further incident. Chief Deputy Meng described the chase as a “low-speed pursuit.”
The driver, Scott Maxwell, 55, of Terre Haute, faces charges of auto theft, a sixth-degree felony, and resisting law enforcement while using a vehicle, also a sixth-degree felony.
Officers with the Terre Haute Police Department, West Terre Haute Police Department, and the Seelyville Marshal assisted in the pursuit.
