TERRE HAUTE, IN (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute city officials are looking ahead to the future of the main lift station project.
Contaminated groundwater halted the project last year but on Tuesday the Board of Sanitary commissioners heard a new design for the project that would allow work to begin. Bids on the design would begin in 2023.
Assistant city engineer Marcus Maurer said it is time to create a bigger facility that is better suited for the future.
“The existing main lift station that was constructed years ago and it’s been kind of difficult to keep it running over the years,” Maurer said. “It’s way outdated. Requires a lot of maintenance and it’s ultimately not big enough.”
The location would be off Prairieton Road behind the Mill and the old International Paper property.
