TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute woman faces a charge of battery resulting in bodily injury to a person under 14 after reportedly punching a two-year-old in the face.

According to court documents, Raesha J. Stevens, 25, punched her neighbor and her neighbor’s two-year-old son on July 23. The neighbor told police that she had been trying to get her son out of the car after arriving home when Stevens approached the two. The neighbor claimed that Stevens was rambling and didn’t make sense as she approached.

Stevens reportedly first told the neighbor she wouldn’t do anything to the boy before then punching him on the left side of his face as she was holding her son on her hip. Police reported observing swelling on the boy’s face. Stevens reportedly also punched the neighbor in the face as well.

Stevens was eventually placed under arrest on August 2 following a warrant being issued. Stevens is due to appear in Vigo County Superior Court 6 Monday afternoon where it was expected that she be assigned a public defender.
