TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A call reporting a gas station robbery led to the arrest of a Terre Haute woman in the overnight hours of early Tuesday morning.
In a Facebook post, Terre Haute Police confirm that at around 1 a.m. they dispatched an officer to 1131 N. 3rd Street for a reported robbery. That address is the location of the Philipps 66 gas station across from Woodlawn Cemetary.
According to police, upon arrival, the suspect had already fled the scene. After searching the area, officers reported locating the suspect and her vehicle and arresting 27-year-old Tara Whiffing of Terre Haute.
Whiffing has been charged with:
- Robbery, Level 5 Felony
- Theft-Firearm, Level 6 Felony
- Neglect of a Dependent, Level 6 Felony
- Dealing methamphetamine, Level 2 Felony
- Possession of a controlled substance, Class A Misdemeanor
