VIGO COUNTY, Ind (WTWO/WAWV) — If you drive on US 41/3rd Street in Terre Haute regularly expect to see a number of orange cones and construction workers this spring.

INDOT has announced that the median construction project is set to begin this week with work scheduled to be finished around July 15. The entire project runs along US 41 between Hulman Street and Maple Avenue.

The first phase of the project should allow some relief to drivers since crews will work primarily in the overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. between Hulman and Cherry Streets.

Work on phase one is expected to last through the end of April.

Phase two of the project will be the stretch of road between Cherry Street and Maple Avenue. This work will be done during daytime hours after May 1, with one lane closed in each direction.

Feutz Contractors will be performing the work at a cost of $1 million. The project includes removing deteriorated concrete or repairing the concrete that is part of the road’s center curb. Pavement patching and application of additional markings will also be completed in the area.
