TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – McDonald’s restaurants in the Terre Haute area recently partnered with the community to make a difference in Vigo County classrooms.

Nick and Jami Kasprzyk are local McDonald’s owners and operators. On Thursday, they presented a check for $4,000 to the Vigo County Education Foundation.

A total of $3,000 was raised during the fundraiser, during which a portion of the day’s proceeds went toward the effort. That sum was increased by an additional $1,000 donation made by the owners.

The Vigo County Education Foundation said this money helps teachers enrich their classrooms with things like books, materials for science experiments, after-school clubs, and more.

“It’s really neat when teachers are still delivering the standards, but we help them supplement the curriculum in creative ways and it’s neat to see them rewarded. They work so hard to make the magic happen in the classrooms and donations like this to the education foundation make this possible,” said Jane Nichols, executive director of the Vigo County Education Foundation.

The Kasprzyk’s hope to make this an annual effort.
