TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man was sentenced to 70 years in prison Thursday after being found guilty of murder and arson following a 2020 fire that killed his brother.

In September a jury found Samuel Haney, Jr. guilty on all counts more than a year after his brother, 52-year-old Terry Haney, was injured in a fire he set. Terry later died at an Indianapolis hospital.

Samuel was arrested just hours after the fire, and had been initially charged with arson resulting in serious bodily injury before charges were upgraded to felony murder.
