TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Terre Haute man is behind bars following allegations that he raped an underage girl.
Michael Courtland South, 41, was charged with rape and 16 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor following an investigation that began in February, according to Vigo County court records.
The records indicate that DNA results received by investigators on June 17 provided “very strong support for the proposition that Michael South is a contributor to each of the DNA profiles.”
South was arrested on June 19 and is currently being held on $100,000 bond with 10 percent not allowed in the case.
Michael S. Brewer was appointed to represent South, and his initial hearing with counsel was scheduled for Friday.
