HILLSDALE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man was arrested for driving under the influence in Vermillion County with a blood alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit.
According to the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department, witnesses saw an SUV driving erratically on State Road 63 near Hazelbluff Road. A license plate check revealed the owner of the vehicle was Joseph A. Ingram, 40, of Terre Haute, who was listed as a habitual traffic violator.
When deputies located Ingram, several empty alcohol containers were discovered in the vehicle, and they said Ingram admitted to drinking. A chemical test showed Ingram had a BAC of 0.319 percent.
Once Ingram was medically cleared from a nearby hospital, he was transported to the Vermillion County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with an ACE of .15 or greater with a previous conviction, habitual traffic violator and resisting law enforcement.
His bond was set at $15,000 with 10 percent allowed following a mandatory hold.
