TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man is behind bars for allegedly battering his girlfriend’s 2-month-old child.

Noah Rowans, 21, of Terre Haute, was arrested Tuesday after admitting to battering the infant, according to police.

Court documents revealed that Rowans said in a taped interview with police that he “lifted the two month old up and down multiple times,” Monday, adding that the infant’s head “may have whipped back and forth multiple times.”

The infant was transported to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis that day for breathing treatments. The infant is being treated for bleed on the brain, uncontrolled seizures and an unregulated heart rate.

Rowans was initially charged with neglect of a dependent. He is being held at the Vigo County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
