Terre Haute KFC reopens following barricade situation

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The KFC on Lafayette Avenue in Terre Haute was opened for business Tuesday following a barricade situation the day before.

“We were able to reopen the restaurant today, and we are focused on supporting our employees through this time,” an official KFC spokesperson said Tuesday.

Terre Haute police, including the Special Response Team (SRT) arrived at the restaurant late Monday morning where a man, believed to be an employee of the restaurant, was alone inside, armed with a pair of scissors.

Police eventually entered the building and found the man unresponsive. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead from self-inflicted injuries.

“We are deeply saddened by yesterday’s events,” the KFC spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with the family of our team member during this difficult time. The KFC family grieves with them and we are offering our support and the help of the KFC Foundation’s Family Fund.”
