TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Terre Haute Humane Society is taking steps toward reopening its shelter to the public.
Next weekend the shelter will open its cat area only Friday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
People interested in adopting a dog can still look at dogs on the shelter’s website and set up an appointment to do a meet-and-greet with a dog.
General Manager Sarah Valentine says she’s excited to take these steps toward reopening.
“I’ve been here almost seven years and never in a million would I have thought I would have sepnt over a year with the building pretty much closed off to the outside, so we’re excited to have people coming back in. We just ask for everybody to be patient with us,” Valentine said.
She says the shelter will limit the number of people allowed in the shelter at one time. Valentine also says no one under the age of 16 will be allowed inside and visitors are asked to wear a mask while inside the building.
