TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) – Crowds surrounded the Booker T. Washington Community Center to celebrate and embrace freedom and independence in our country.

The community had the opportunity to enjoy free food and entertainment such as live music, bounce houses, basketball, and over 50 local vendors.

Many local black businesses got the chance to introduce their brands to the community.

Cofounder Daniel Shouse said Juneteenth celebrations are extremely meaningful.

“It’s a proclamation of our culture of the African American community,” Shouse said. “That means everything and shows that through hard work and determination that your able to accomplish anything you want.”

Shouse said Terre Haute will be continue Juneteenth celebrations for years to come.
