TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A community partnership will help people in need keep cool as the summer season continues.
The Duke Energy Foundation recently presented the United Way of the Wabash Valley with a $10,000 dollar grant.
The funds were used to purchase box fans from Lowe’s for local people in need. The fans will go toward three organizations, Reach Services, Manna from 7, and the West Vigo Community Center and those groups will distribute the fans to their consumers who are most in need.
“This is part of a larger grant that we’ve got throughout the state of Indiana. We gave $90,000 [worth] of fans and this is what we chose to do here in Terre Haute and the wabash valley,” said Rick Burger, District Manager of Duke Energy.
Lowe’s also provided the fans at a discount allowing United Way to purchase even more.
