TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Progress continues on the Terre Haute Casino Resort project on the city’s east side.

“The hotel is about eight floors up currently of the 10 floors,” General Manager Mike Rich said. “They’re moving the deck pieces along, and they continue to pour concrete every day on the main floor of the casino. We’re at a point whereby the middle of June we feel like we’re gonna be where the hotel is basically topped off, and we are gonna start really working on the insides of the hotel and the casino.”

Rich said any final tweaks or changes made at this stage, which would be minimal if at all, are to enhance the experience for visitors and guests.

“I think there was the final debate of where the pool was going to go,” Rich recalled. “We obviously moved it to the main floor to make it a much larger and better pool experience for our guests.”

Rich said the change in pool location allowed for changes to the rooftop bar.

“I think we’ve made the 10th-floor bar experience more exciting than what was initially planned,” Rich said. “I think it’s going to be a phenomenal place to get a drink for our customers when they show up. I think for all of Terre Haute, it’ll be a great place to grab a drink after work.”

Attention is turning now toward employment opportunities within the casino resort.

“We are about to kick off a dealer school this fall that will start Oct. 1,” Rich shared. “People in town will start seeing advertisements around that beginning probably around mid-June.”

Other jobs will start popping up as the year winds down.

“The majority of the jobs for frontline employees and our key supervisors will post toward the end of the year,” Rich said. “Right at the beginning of 2024 as we, again, plan on opening right at the end of the first quarter of 2024.”
