Terre Haute casino project hits another roadblock with IGC tabling financial request

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute casino project hit another roadblock Tuesday as the Indiana Gaming Commission tabled Lucy Luck Gaming’s financial plan. Commission approval would have allowed the company to move forward with construction plans in the coming months.

During an IGC meeting Tuesday, Lucy Luck representatives told the commissioners that five local banks will finance the $170 million project. They noted the company will create more than 600 permanent jobs once opened.

After reaching a final management agreement with Hard Rock earlier this month, the casino operators hoped for the commission’s approval of the financing plans; however, the local casino license will be up for renewal in just a few weeks. IGC officials decided to table the approval until after the license is renewed.

Lucy Luck Gaming hopes to have a groundbreaking announcement by the end of June or early July, pending approval of the license renewal and financing plans.
