TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Terre Haute Breakfast Optimist Club holds 3rd annual chili cook-off to support the children of the area.
All of the funds raised at this event go straight back into the community. This year the cookoff had 23 teams along with a car show sponsored by the fairgrounds.
The continued growth of this event over the years allowed them to help of 4700 kids last year. Officials hope that this number keeps growing because that will always remain their main focus.
Brad Newman is the president of the Terre Haute Breakfast Optimist Club, and he expresses his gratitude for the continued support from the Wabash Valley.
“I enjoy seeing all the people and everybody coming out. There are a huge variety of people that support this and it’s cool to see all walks of live come together and actually take part in an event. This event is going to continue to grow,” said Newman.
Newman also wanted to add that none of this would be possible without their partnership with the fairgrounds.
“Our partnership with the fairgrounds has made this event into what it is today. Everything you see here today is put together and organized by the fairgrounds. I am forever grateful for the constant support from them,” added Newman.
The fairgrounds also held a KOI drag racing event Saturday. This was the first time that this has ever been to Vigo County.
