TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute co-op is making its home in 12 Points with a new building.
Terre Foods acquired a 10,000 square foot building this week that will be transformed into a local and organic full-service grocery store.
“We really wanted to take advantage of the local produce that’s being grown,” said Jim Speer, president of co-op board for Terre Foods. “One of the things that Terre Foods is going to provide that is unique in this area is really a focus for local foods.”
The grocery store is owned by cooperative of people who work to ensure the market’s success. One of the main goals of this new grocery store is to remain local for many of their items.
On Saturday, Terre Foods held a Farmers Market featuring local vendors. The president hopes to open their doors in June.
