Man arrested following two-person collision in Marshall

MARSHALL, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — One man was arrested for intoxicated driving Monday after a car struck him while he was riding a motor bicycle on US Route 40 near Baystown Road in Marshall, Ill.

Jeremy DaShiell, a 38-year-old from Marshall, now faces charges of driving under the influence of drugs, driving while his license was suspended and driving an uninsured vehicle without registration after he was hit from behind by a car. Coltan Gosnell, 18, Marshall, was driving a 2010 Purple Chevrolet Traverse when he hit DaShiell from behind, according to a police report.

DaShiell, police said, was driving a 2018 Black Motor Driven Bicycle around 9:30 p.m. Monday headed westbound on US Route 40 when Gosnell’s car hit the back of his bike and he was thrown off. DaShiell was then taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later charged by Illinois State Police.
