TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) – Saturday May 21st the Team of Mercy hosted their 9th annual “Surviving the Color” event.
The event is dedicated to the memory of all those lost in our communities to suicide.
Over 900 people filled Deming Park to participate in the 5k color run or walk, as well as visit 12 local vendors.
This year’s turnout was the largest the Team of Mercy President Sue Jones said she’s ever seen.
“It was record numbers this year and we hope to make that 1,000 participants next year,” Jones said.
Jones said her favorite aspect about this event is seeing the community come together for something bigger.
“My favorite part is seeing the families who have lost loved ones enjoy being here,” Jones said.
The proceeds from “Surviving the Color” will fund further efforts to honor those who have passed from suicide.
