TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Get ready to run with a splash of color.
Team of Mercy is hosting their ‘Surviving the Color’ 5K in May. The run raises suicide awareness and supports survivors of loved ones who died by suicide.
Runners will start at Ohio Blvd. and make their way through Deming Park, all while colored powder gets thrown at them. Team of Mercy’s Karen Allen and Christina Crist believe raising suicide awareness is serious but can also be positive.
“We also want to put a fun spin on it. There’s nothing really fun about suicide, but when we’re doing the awareness part, we’ve got to laugh. We’ve got to have a little bit of fun. We’ve got to make it real, because it is real,” Crist said.
The run takes off May 22 at 9 a.m.
