Taco 101: A new course in authentic cuisine opens Tuesday

Local News

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Mexican food is fairly ubiquitous in Terre Haute. But authentic Mexican food? Finding that can be a trickier proposition.

Enter Charles Harris and his new restaurant, Taco 101. Its grand opening will be Tuesday at noon. After that, Taco 101 will be open from 7 a.m.-midnight Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday. It’s located at 1330 Wabash Ave.

Harris’ focus is on freshness. Food at his eatery will be fresh, authentic and fast simultaneously. He’ll also be offering authentic Mexican drinks, and gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options, as well. Food can be purchased for carry-out or at the drive-thru, with a delivery option available; outdoor dining will be offered soon.

Harris is excited to bring something new to Terre Haute. “My wife is a Terre Hautian, so she’s been here for most of her life and I was a transplant,” he said. “I was a former missionary to Mexico so I very much like the authentic stuff, so we’re just excited to bring something new here to Terre Haute.”
