GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man found sleeping in a truck parked in the roadway on CR 315 in Greene County was identified as a suspect wanted for multiple car thefts across the state.

Paul Aiden Jones, 30, of Lawrence County, resisted arrest by members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office but was finally taken into custody after “an exhaustive fight.” One deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries following the altercation, according to authorities.

The truck Jones was in matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen out of Lawrence County on March 31.

Jones was taken into custody on a warrant out of Jennings County. He also faces new charges in Greene County for attempting to disarm law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a syringe, resisting law enforcement and battery on a public official.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation into Jones continues and will likely result in more charges. He is currently a suspect in more than 25 car thefts in multiple counties.
