TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Would you like to see a new indoor fieldhouse, aquatic center, or outdoor sports complex built in Vigo County?

Regardless if your answer is yes or no, the Vigo County Capital Improvement Board wants to hear it.

Vigo County residents are being asked to answer a public survey regarding potential investments in building one or two of those types of locations.

The potential projects are described as follows;

  • Aquatic center
    • Zero depth entry, water play, water slides, or lazy river, etc.
  • Indoor fieldhouse
    • Synthetic turf, sports hardcourts, etc.
  • Outdoor sports complex
    • Baseball diamonds, softball diamonds, etc.

“As we look to the possibility of bringing added amenities to the community such as sporting and aquatic features, getting a thorough understanding of what the community wants and needs is an important part of the process,” Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett said.

In addition to questions regarding future development, the survey asks residents how often they utilize amenities currently available to the community.

The deadline to respond to the survey is March 19.

Earlier this year the CIB hired Pros Consulting to conduct a feasibility study for potential projects. Survey results will reportedly be used to help the CIB determine the best options and if these kinds of projects would increase quality of life. The feasibility study is expected to be completed in May 2023.

The survey is expected to take approximately 15 minutes to complete, to respond to the survey click here.
