TERRE HAUTE (WTWO/WAWV) — The Red Cross is assisting one Terre Haute resident and their dog after a house fire left them without a home Sunday.

Terre Haute Fire Chief Bill Berry said the fire happened at a home near the intersection of N. 22nd Street and 4th Avenue. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly and stayed on the scene for more than an hour.

While there were no injuries, firefighters rescued a dog from the fire and administered CPR to it. Berry said the dog is still alive.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
